Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Slates Open House
Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Slates Open House
With its annual holiday gift to the Fairfield County community, the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk will be hosting its annual Community Open House, Sunday, December 14, from noon to 4 pm.
Holiday entertainment will be provided by the West Rocks School orchestra, pianist Jon Hunt who will be conducting a sing-along of popular holiday songs, harpist Alix Raspe, The Serendipity Singers, and The Sea Majors vocal group.
Santa and his elves will be present to listen to the childrenâs wishes while handing out candy canes. Children can also have their photos taken with Santa for a fee of $8, which includes mounting in a festive holiday frame.
To ward off the chill of winter, refreshments will include hot chocolate and cookies. There is a suggested donation of $5 per adult with free admission for children.
The mansion will be decked-out in all of its holiday finery, each room lovingly decorated by volunteers, board members Linda Fontaine and Victoria VanDamm, and Klaffâs Lighting.
The acoustics in the mansionâs 42-foot-high grand rotunda make it a wonderful place to hear live music surrounded by the dazzling sparkles of Christmas trees and the warm glow of holiday lights.
Mansion Chairman Chris Cooke, who attended last yearâs event, had a wonderful time and had this to say: âThe Holiday Open House is always wonderful. The entertainment is terrific and the efforts of our dedicated volunteers make it a truly special event.â
This program is generously sponsored by Patriot National Bank and refreshments will be provided by Stew Leonardâs.
The entertainment schedule is as follows:
Noon to 12:30 pm, West Rocks School Orchestra.
12:45 to 1:45 pm, Pianist Jon Hunt playing solo and conducting community sing-along.
2 to 2:30 pm, Serendipity Singers.
