Scholarship Benefit Concert Will Honor

Memory Of Joel Kannengeiser

WOODBURY — The Connecticut Choral Society and the Friends of Woodbury Public Library will present the second Annual CCS Kannengeiser Memorial Concert on Sunday, May 6, at North Congregational Church in Woodbury.

This event, which will begin at 2:30 pm, is a tribute to the late Joel Kannengeiser of Woodbury, who served as vice president of the Friends of Woodbury Public Library.  Mr Kannengeiser was also a longtime member of the choral society and was heavily involved in the development of its scholarship fund, now named in his honor.

Soloists will include Newtown High School student Grant Skinner and Joel Barlow High School student Anya Watson, each of whom was a winner of the 2001 CCS $1,000 Kannengeiser Scholarship competition, and Alisha Saxon from Kennedy High School in Waterbury, the recipient of the special Judges’ Award of $500.

Also in performance will be Pamela Hoffman, a well-known vocalist in the area, and the Chamber Singers of Connecticut Choral Society, who will perform highlights Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610.

A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door. All proceeds will go to the CCS Kannengeiser Scholarship Fund. For additional information call 203-263-7603 or 800-555-5250.
