DUI Arrest
Police said that at about 3 am November 10, they stopped motorist Stephen Furphy, 18, of 3 Black Walnut Drive on Mt Pleasant for a motor vehicle violation.
After investigating, police charged Furphy with driving under the influence and with speeding.
After processing, police released Furphy from custody on $100 bail for a November 27 court appearance.
Bear Hills Burglary
Police report that a residential burglary/larceny occurred sometime between 9 and 11 am on November 8 at a Bear Hills Road home. Bear Hills Road links South Main Street to Pine Tree Hill Road, near the Monroe town line. Police ask anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in that area at that time to contact officer Steve Ketchum at the police station at 426-5841.
Commuter Lot
About 7:30 am November 7, motorist Richard McGrath, 45, of 11 Yogananda Street, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry, was exiting the commuter parking lot on Wasserman Way behind an exiting 2008 International school bus, state police said.
The school bus, which was driven by Luz Roman, 43, of Waterbury, then backed up, striking the front end of the Toyota, state police said. The bus is owned by Laidlaw Transit Inc of Danbury.
There were no injuries. State police said Roman performed unsafe backing.
BMW Motorcycle
Motorcyclist Richard Vaca, 50, of Shelton was driving a 2006 BMW K1200-LT and while negotiating a curve on the Exit 11 ramp of Interstate 84, he lost control of the motorcycle after encountering a fuel spill on the pavement, state police said. The mishap occurred about 8:30 am November 5.
The motorcycle fell onto its right side and went into a slide. Vaca was not injured. State police took no enforcement.
Daewoo Vs Ford
About 11 am November 9, motorist Stephen Furphy, 18, of 3 Black Walnut Drive, who was driving a 1986 Ford SUV westward near 60 Church Hill Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Ford was struck from behind by westbound motorist Andrew Mormando, 19, of Philo Curtis Road, who was driving a 2001 Daewoo sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Mormando received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
School Bus
Police report an accident involving a school bus and a pickup truck about 12:10 pm November 8 near 60 Platts Hill Road.
In that incident, a 1999 Ford E-350 school bus driven by Christine Cook, 50, of 48 Aunt Park Lane was traveling on Platts Hill Road, when it was struck by a motorist in a black Ford pickup truck who then left the scene of the accident without providing identification, police said.
The bus is owned by MTM Transportation of Dusty Lane, police said.
Neither Cook, nor one adult and two child passengers on the bus, were injured, police said. Police are investigating.
Warrant
Police report that on November 13, they arrested Tony Schick, 23, of Danbury on a warrant, charging him with criminal impersonation and with interfering with police.
Police said the arrest stems from a June incident in which Schick presented false identification to them.
After he posted $1,500 bail, police released Schick from custody for a November 27 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
