The Newtown High School wrestling team defeated Immaculate 39-32 in its final home meet of the campaign on January 29. Newtownâs Baggett Wins Twice
Newtownâs Judd Baggett won two of three wrestling matches during this past weekendâs Waterbury-based Chase Collegiate Schoolâs action.
Baggett, a 152-pound grappler, pinned New York Military academyâs Clemont Ruan in 1:39 as Chase earned a 42-31 team victory. Chase fell to The Hotchkiss School and Taft School.
Baggett was pinned by his Hotchkiss opponent, Peter Schanzer, and won a 9-3 decision over Taftâs Nick Joung.
NHS Skaters Fall
Christian Beitelâs team-leading 12th goal wasnât enough as the Newtown High School boysâ hockey team fell 4-1 at Sheehan on January 29.
 The Hawks were 4-7 heading into Wednesdayâs scheduled game with Watertown-Pomperaug (after The Bee sports section went to press) in Danbury.
