Saul Danneberg, 88, of Fairfield, previously of Stratford, died February 1. Mr Dannenberg was born in Bridgeport, a son of William and Celia Dannenberg.
Mr Danneberg is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 61 years, Avis Dannenberg, and his loving children, including Howard Dannenberg of Sandy Hook.
He was a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom of Bridgeport for many years, and was a World War II veteran, having served with the Army Engineer Corps for three years. He was a proud veteran and recently received an award from Governor M. Jodi Rell for his military service from the State of Connecticut. He retired from Avco-Textron Industries and Sikorsky Aircraft.
Mr Danneberg was the manager and pro at the Bethany Racquet Club in New Haven. He also was the tennis pro at Oaklane Country Club, Hillandale Country Club, and Rolling Hills Country Club for many summers, and volunteered at many childrenâs camps.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Jewish Home for The Elderly, and the staff at Bridgeport Hospital, especially the ER and 7W, for their kindness and care.
Funeral services were held February 4. The family was scheduled to observe shiva at 423-B Black Hawk Lane, Oronoque Village in Stratford, Thursday, February 5, from 2 to 5 pm, with shiva minyan at 7 pm, and on Friday morning, February 6.
