Distracted Driving

Motorist Stephen Pelletier, 53, of New Milford, who was driving a 2000 Mercury Marquis sedan eastward on Church Hill Road about 11 pm March 21, was attempting to make a left turn onto The Boulevard, when the Mercury was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Jessica Troccolla, 25, of 155 Alpine Drive, who was driving a 2003 Hyundai Sonata sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said that Troccolla told them that she was using the text messaging function on a cellphone and did not see the Mercury.

Police issued Troccolla an infraction for distracted driving and for following too closely. Police issued Pelletier an infraction for failure to carry vehicle registration and insurance documents.
