Hearts Around The World Plans Breakfast Fundraiser
DANBURY â In August 2008, Dr Robert Jarrett and his wife Menoo Afkari-Jarrett established a new not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing cardiovascular education in third world nations.
They decided to cut out the overhead and designate 95 percent of every donation toward training doctors to help people all over the world.
And Hearts Around the World, Inc was born.
This 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is dedicated to sending skilled specialists to other nations to train local doctors in techniques necessary to improve the lives of children and adults.
âWe expect to get all of the necessary services and medical supplies donated,â states Dr Jarrett. According to Menoo Afkari-Jarrett, âHearts Around the World will operate from the Internet so that we wonât have rents, salaries, or other major operating expenses. We have already recruited great people to join our board and to handle the legal work, communications, PR, creative work, and accounting at no cost to the organization.â
The most recent nation involved in the program is Vietnam. Dr Jarrett and his team have traveled there to help educate the local doctors.
His work has focused on Choray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, and the organization has quickly gained the support of many professionals in the area. Each has offered to give their time and expertise to this worthwhile endeavor.
Dr and Ms Jarrett invite the public to support this cause and learn more at Hearts Around the Worldâs first breakfast fundraising event, to be conducted at the Ethan Allen Inn, Tuesday, April 7, from 7 to 9 am. Tickets are $40, and guests will hear from Dr Jarrett as well as see photos of recent trips. To reserve a seat or a table, call Hearts Around the World at 733-3222.
