In Fairfield County String Orchestra Music Festival
DANBURY â On Saturday, March 28, the Fairfield County String Teachers Association will present its 35th Annual String Orchestra Music Festival.
Featured on the program will be three string orchestras with a total of over 200 area middle and junior high school students participating. Eighteen towns in western Connecticut will be represented. The event is an enrichment experience for qualified instrumentalists recommended by their school music teachers and selected by festival committees.
A public concert will be performed at Western CT State Universityâs White Hall, on White Street/Route 6 at the corner of Fifth Avenue. Tickets are $6, with children ages 14 and under admitted free.
Among those who have been selected for this yearâs performances are a number of students from Reed Intermediate, Newtown Middle and Newtown High Schools. Accepted into the 6-7 String Orchestra were Kai Hedin and Ryan Nathenson, both of NMS, and Anna Pinckney, from RIS; all three are violin students.
Students in the 8-9 Orchestra are Erin Bell (NHS), on violin; Leah Pinckney, NMS, violin; Emily Anderson, NMS, viola; and cellists Alex Lampel and Brenna Whitton, both NMS.
Violinist Austin Hubert, from NMS, was accepted into the Honors Orchestra.
