Palace Theaterâs Annual Fund
WATERBURY â The aptly named Art Forms event on April 3 is but one of several arts oriented events the Palace Theater has on its calendar this spring to help add to the theaterâs Annual Campaign bottom line.
Taking the adage âArt for Arts Sakeâ to a whole new level, the theater kicked off these activities on March 24 with a special behind the scenes tour of the theater that included places the public doesnât usually have access to such as the catwalk above the stage, the green room and starâs dressing rooms.
On April 3 the theater will host a gallery showing and reception of original artwork by local artisans. Titled âArt Forms, the mixed media show organized by local artist Mally DeSomma of Fine Line Art Gallery will include original paintings, photography, jewelry and more by 17 artists from central and northwestern Connecticut including Robert Everding of Brookfield.
All offerings will be for sale with a portion going to the theaterâs Annual Fund. Cost to enjoy the exhibit and reception catered by Michele Williams of Hen of the Woods is $50 per person.
On May 8 Arthur Murray of Hamden will offer a whole different spin on fundraising by inviting the public to get up and dance at an Arthur Murray Dance Party at The Palace. Enjoy socializing and freestyle dancing from 5 to 6:30 pm. Admission is $10 per person.
Dance lessons by Arthur Murray staff will be conducted from 7 to 11 pm. Cost for the lessons, which will also include refreshments, is $50 per person which will be donated to the Palace Theater.
