William Richard Holmes

William Richard Holmes, 84, of Fairfield, husband of Beverly (Hammond) Holmes, a retired employee of Carpenter Steel with more than 50 years of service, died on November 16 in his home. He was the father of Beth Burroughs of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, Mr Holmes had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Jehova’s Witness organization, and was a member of the Carpenter Steel Retirees Club. Survivors include another daughter, Amy Sakso, of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Caitlin Sakso, Adam Burroughs, Ashley Burroughs and Brett Burroughs; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service took place on November 20 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 40 Hillside Road, Fairfield.

The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements. Contributions in memory of Mr Holmes may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 30 Stevens Street, Norwalk, CT 06850.
