Visual Artist & Singer-Songwriter Offering Studio Show & House Concert

RIDGEFIELD — What do you get when you combine music and art and a nice sized house? Answer: A  art studio show and house concert.

Newtown musician Darryl Gregory will perform a house concert on Saturday, February 19, at the home of artist Gwenann Reid Higham. Ms Reid Higham is a former resident of Sandy Hook who just recently moved to Ridgefield.

The genesis of this event took place at the last house concert Darryl produced and performed (which was at his own house) in November 2010. After seeing how easy it was to actually produce a concert in one’s home, Ms Reid Higham, who attended that concert, figured it would be a great way to exhibit her paintings as well as having a live concert.

“House concerts are great settings, very intimate,” says Mr Gregory. “They bring the music right to the fan and leave wonderful memories for friends and the community. And with this concert you can also get an art studio experience as well.”

Ms Reid Higham and Mr Gregory will present an evening of songs and paintings at 29 Manor Road, Ridgefield, on Saturday, February 19, from 6 to 10 pm. There will be a potluck dinner and then music and art.

Suggested donation is $5.

Seating is limited and reservations are strongly recommended by sending an email to darryl@bluecavestudios.com or reidhigham@earthlink.net, or by calling 917-297-3113. The house will open at 6 pm and music will begin around 7:15.

Since this is a pot luck, those planning to attend are asked to also indicate what they are planning to bring when they contact the artists about a reservation.

Darryl Gregory is a Sandy Hook resident who has been writing and performing his songs up and down the East Coast and out to the Midwest for the past 15 years. His music is best described as “hard-edged country, with a soft heart.” He has released two solo CDs and has played on many other CD releases.

Gwenann Reid Higham is a clinical social worker and visual artist. Her oil paintings have been exhibited in regional shows and galleries. She is part of the artists group, The Reflectionists, based in Lake Carmel, N.Y.
