Slow Down

To the Editor:

In response to “Harrowing Hattertown Road” [Letter Hive, 8/21/09], I would like to say I agree. Hattertown is quite the obstacle course. It’s not just the pothole that make it dangerous, it is the commuters driving 50 mph back and forth twice a day as well.

This is the real problem; the road would be a lot safer if people slowed down to the posted speed limit of 30 mph. This might give walkers and cyclists (who ride two and three abreast, don’t stop for stop signs, don’t signal for turns, etc) a fighting chance for survival. A nicely paved road leads me to believe the drivers would just go faster. The pothole maybe the only thing keeping the speeds under 60 mph.

Sincerely,

Robert Michael
