Alcohol Charges

Police said that on the night of August 21, they spotted Warren Chao, 20, of Greenwich place three 30-packs of beer into the trunk of a vehicle parked at the shopping center at 5 Queen Street. Chao was a passenger in that vehicle, police said.

The vehicle then drove off, after which police said they stopped it for a traffic violation on Schoolhouse Hill Road. All people in the vehicle were under age 21, police said.

Police said they charged Chao with possession of alcohol by a minor and with third-degree forgery for having allegedly used a fake identification card to buy the beer. Chao is scheduled to appear in court on the forgery charge on September 9, police said.

Police said they charged driver Dashiel Jeffries, 19, of 6 Wiley Road with possession of alcohol by a minor and with traveling too fast for conditions.

Also, police said they charged passenger George Collins, 20, of 2 Melody Lane with possession of alcohol by a minor.

MV Violations

Police report they spotted motorist Marc Smith, 20, of 78 Lantern Drive driving on Route 34 near Zoar Road without a front marker plate on his vehicle about 4:30 pm September 1, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police charged Smith with failure to display a front marker plate, misuse of a marker plate, and driving an unregistered vehicle. Police released Smith on a written promise to appear in court on September 15.

Incident

Police said they responded to a possible assault at a Dayton Street residence about 3:30 pm August 27. The dispute involved the possible sale of a vehicle, police said.

Police said that a struggle then ensued between them and Ramon Santiago, 63, of New Haven, during which Santiago failed to comply with police instructions.

Police then arrested Santiago on charges of interfering with police and with disorderly conduct. He was released on a written promise to appear in court on September 10.
