Canavan is a junior midfielder/forward on the Newtown High School field hockey team.

Favorite part about playing: It’s an adrenaline rush — it’s a really fun, fast-paced sport.”

Toughest aspect: “Losing because we’re trying to build something up as a team and hold the title,” said Canavan, whose Nighthawks are the defending South-West Conference champions.

When she’s not playing field hockey: Canavan plays lacrosse and enjoys sewing and art.

Team she roots for: New York Giants.

Food of choice: Pulled pork.
