Proceed Slowly

With Fairfield Hills

To the Editor:

Since the master plan for Fairfield Hills was not passed, it would be in the town’s best interest to slow the planning process down in regard to Fairfield Hills. It is obvious by the outcome of the vote that residents of Newtown need more time.

Let’s purchase Fairfield Hills first! The $21 million that was authorized by the town the night of the 5/6 school vote for the purchase of the property and to start the development process, you know will not be enough! This town can barely afford a school/town budget. How can we afford to proceed with Fairfield Hills right now and do it right?

Fairfield Hills should be a part of the entire town plan of development. Why is the master plan a push, when the entire town plan of development has not been completed? How does the future of Fairfield Hills fit in the entire town plan?

It’s wonderful that the town agreed to buy the property. For now, let’ s use $4 million of the $21 million, if that is what Fairfield Hills is still going to cost, and do just that!
