George Ferguson is running as a Republican candidate for Newtown’s Legislative Council from the First District. He has served for years on the Conservation Commission and has a proven track record of obtaining conservation easements and open space for Newtown.

Although I vote in the Second District, I have interacted with George Ferguson several times in my land use practice. If I have a question regarding open space, he is one of the first persons I think about calling to discuss the merits of a particular proposal. He was the moving force behind obtaining the gift of a substantial conservation easement from a client along Pond Brook adjacent to open space which the town was purchasing.

The Legislative Council, and therefore the town itself, will be enriched by having someone with George Ferguson’s expertise as a member. I urge the voters in the First District to vote for George Ferguson.
