Thanks And Congratulations

To the Editor:

Thanks to everyone who supported my bid for reelection to the Legislative Council. I appreciate the trust you have shown in me, and will do my best to represent the interests of residents in District 2 during the next two years.

I also want to congratulate the many IPN candidates who won seats on the Board of Selectmen, Legislative Council, Board of Education, Police Commission, and Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers. I appreciate the support they received from Newtowners in this election.

I would like to congratulate and welcome to the council Mary Ann Jacob, Chris LaRocque, and Richard Woycik, our new D-2 LC reps. I look forward to working with all of you as we represent District 2 and our town. As well, congratulations to all the Republicans and Democrats who were elected, including Pat Llodra and Will Rodgers and the members of the Board of Finance.

I also want to acknowledge the hard-fought campaign for Board of Selectmen that Gary Fetzer and Joe Hemingway waged during the election.

I want to thank Bruce Walczak for his leadership in helping the fledgling Independent Party of Newtown to establish itself and to wage an effective election campaign that has seen IPN significantly expand its presence within local government. Bruce may not have won his bid to become first selectman, but his enthusiasm during the campaign was an inspiration to all the IPN candidates and was critical to our success.

Finally, I want to congratulate Po Murray on a great two years on the Legislative Council. Her enthusiasm and determination has helped shape the debate on many important issues in our community. Those debates, I’m sure, will continue into the next two years and I hope that Po will continue to make her presence felt. I know that I will miss serving with her on the council.

I look forward to working in a collaborative manner with all of our newly elected officials to improve our great community.
