Stamford Man Is Winner Of Lions Club Mustang

Ron Doshner, of Stamford and Willsboro, N.Y., recently picked up the keys to the shiny red 1964½ Mustang that was raffled by Newtown Lions Club this year. His winning ticket was purchased on October 11 at the New Fairfield Lions Car Show.

Mr Doshner is an employee of Metro North and temporarily lives in Stamford. He is looking forward to retirement in six months to his home in upstate New York. As an old car buff, he told the Lions he is eager to drive his vintage Mustang through the Adirondack Mountains with the top down. He is a Viet Nam veteran and avid motorcyclist. He is married and has five children.

Lions Club Car Committee Chairman Paul Kreuger said this year’s raffle was the second best in the 17 years the club has raffled vintage Mustangs. More than 6,600 tickets were sold despite the weak economy. The successful fundraiser will enable the Lions to continue their support to more than 50 charities and community projects.

Mr Kreuger said the club has already purchased next year’s raffle car, a 1965 blue convertible. The Car Committee members will spend the next few months preparing the car for the 2010 raffle.

Tickets will go on sale in April.
