Henning A. Hjerpe

Henning A. Hjerpe, 75, the husband of the late Julia (Peck) Hjerpe, of Nunnawauk Road, Newtown, died August 10 in Danbury Hospital.

He was born in Bridgeport, August 30, 1925. A resident of Newtown for several years, he was last employed by The Newtown Bee.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy as an electrician’s mate 3rd class on the USS Valley Forge.

He is survived by one grandson, Brian Scovin of Newtown.

A graveside service, with the Rev Kathleen Adams-Sheperd officiating, was held at Newtown Village Cemetery on August 14.

Arrangements were by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown.
