Student Division

McCann Brothers vs Taunton Press: The Blue Jays played hard and had a strong day at the plate, including a long blast by Victoria Stevens and several solid hits from Sarah Kick and Nicole Fisher. Lydia Shugrue was a vacuum in the field and had a great pitching outing. Ashley Silvaggi and Jenna Reilly led the way with their hits. Meghan Chipman and Alea Willis made some great plays in the field, while Jagger Helfand was impressive on the pitchers mound.

Newtown Mobil vs Associated Refuse Blue Thunder: Madison Samoskevich and Amyla Posey both pitched a fabulous game. Olivia Grant and Grace Eurell were awesome at hitting. Kaitlyn King had a great day fielding the ball. The Blue Thunder had a great performance on Saturday. Danielle Blanco and Camryn Griffin pitched well and were big hitters for the Thunder. Megan O’Brien, Bridget and Joan Gogliettino, Gloria Rowley, Rosie Baron and Julia Gerace showed fielding prowess and did a nice job with the bats.

U8 Division

Carminuccio’s Pizza 4, Newtown Pools 3: Kim Buttery had two hits for Carminuccio’s, Nina Soriano also had a hit and was stellar in the field. Ashley Solomon was brilliant on the mound, pitching a scoreless inning. Left Fielder Lindsay Dievert made an outstanding defensive play when she threw a runner out at third base.

U10 Division

Claim Services International 5, Nuzzo Electric 5: Nuzzo Electric came back in the bottom of the last inning with one run to tie the game at 5, but was unable to drive in the winning run. Strong hitting from Cassidy Datin (three for three) and Alexis Mason (three for three), Erin Burns (two for two), and “Shoeless” Sammy Strocchia, who ripped a double and drove in two. Natasha Saavedra and Emma McGrath also pitched in with some hits. Nuzzo Electric moved to 1-5-1 on the season. This game went down to the wire and either team could have won. Leah Hushion did a great job in her pitching debut for CSI. Emily Bell (triple/single), Anna Cartelli and Jenna Carvalho all had multiple hit games. Katie Bassett also contributed with a hit for a big RBI. Rylee Mulligan and Dani Otero did yeoman work behind the plate and threw out three runners trying to steal third. Sydney Marino also made a great play throwing a runner out from right field.

Nuzzo Electric 4, New England Bounce About 3: Nuzzo Electric won its second game of the season by beating New England Bounce on Saturday. Heading into the last inning, Nuzzo Electric was down by a score of 2-3, however through some strong hitting by Alex Nuzzo, Alexis Mason, Sammy Strocchia, and Zoe Beals, Nuzzo Electric was able to push across the winning run. Cate Norton and Alex Watson played well on defense.

Coalition Equipment 9, Claim Services International 6: The Coalition Equipment Crushers got strong pitching from Grace Corcoran and Sydney Flint. Isabella Luciano went three for three with a double, triple and three RBIs. Emily Dirga also went three for three with an RBI. Alexa Horkachuck and Laura LaFreniere anchored the defense with solid infield play. Coalition Equipment Crushers improved to 4-2 on the season. The offense for CSI was led by Dani Otero, who had two hits and two RBIs, Abby Pereira had a double and a single, and Jillian Lasorsa had a triple and single with a few RBIs. On defense, Rylee Mulligan made a great diving catch and had a few other putouts. Anna Harrison played stellar outfield and prevented a few big hits from turning into extra base hits.

Wellbaskets.com 5, New England Bounce About 1: Lindsay Sherwood led the game off with a single. Strong offense continued in the second inning to score four runs by Sarah Dowling, Carly Kreshpan, Amanda Berry, Liz Calabrese, Shannon Cheh, and Tegan Doherty. Super defense by Sarah Dowling on the pitching mound, including a double play.

Wellbaskets.com 7, Claim Services International 6: Sarah Dowling led Wellbaskets.com with three hits in a close win over CSI. Abby Hill continues to improve with her pitching and ended the game with a double play to preserve the win.

 

U12 Division

Blue Line Designs 12, Dr Baum Orthodontics 9: Blue Line Design Purple Penguins defeated Dr Baum Orthodontics 12 to 9. For Blue Line, Robin Rockwell and Ashley Gong both scored for the Penguins. Tonya Tucker and Alexis Tucker pitched well. The Penguin defense was led by Katie Laasonen and Kelly Merrick. For Dr Baum Orthodontics, Brittany Gonzalez, Gillian Ostrofsky, Caitlyn Linden, and Monique Dubois led the offense, Annie Hoffman and Michaela Jackman led the defense and Lauren Villamana pitched very effectively.
