Newtown Youth Wrestlers Come Home Champions

Members of the Newtown Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) participated in the recent 12th Annual Robert Ihrig Youth Wrestling Tournament, held in Cobleskill, N.Y.  The tournament is one of several that serve as a qualifying competition for both the Eastern Nationals and the Ohio Tournament of Champions, both nationally-recognized events.

The NYWA was represented by 29 wrestlers, in the Elementary and Middle School divisions, who made the trip. 

William Henkel, Zach Robinson, Luca Manfredi, and Danny Accomando led off the morning by each winning gold medals. Joining in the solid effort was Shaine Luzetti and Carter Jeffery, both of whom earned silver. Michael Carpenter, Jordan Conrad, Fisher Stites, and Evan Rooney all made their way to the winners’ table to take home bronze medals.

The afternoon session saw the Novice and Middle School divisions bring home several gold medals as well. Earning the top spots in their divisions were Sean Arnold, Dylan Bartlett, Anthony Falbo, Edward Lovely, Alex Davola, Andrei Steinjann, and Andy Hubina. Other afternoon session medal winners were Thomas Leuci, Adrian DeCola, Michael Schleinger, Matthew Jewell (silver), and Jack Wellman (bronze).
