To the Editor:

I support the candidacy of Moira Rodgers as regional judge of probate and encourage others to cast their vote for her in the Republican primary on August 10. Our municipal probate court has been integrated into a regional district along with Redding, Bethel, and Ridgefield. Each of these towns is now served by a separate judge, a practice that will cease next year. Our new regional probate court district will be known as The Northern Fairfield County Probate Court.

As many know, I tried unsuccessfully to have the regional court located in Newtown, given that we are the largest of the communities involved, and are by far the busiest court. Although unsuccessful in that effort, it is still possible to ensure Newtown’s position in the mix of communities by placing Moira in the position of judge.

Moira Rodgers is Newtown’s sitting judge of probate. She performs very well in this capacity, consistently demonstrating the right mix of legal acumen, compassion, and sensitivity. Moira sets a tone of dignity and respect in all actions of the court. She presides over all situations with the same sense of balance and good judgment. She has proven to be an able administrator, skillfully managing the office and the disparate duties of a judge.

Further, Moira will serve full-time as judge, with no private legal enterprise distracting her from the work of the regional court. This commitment ensures that probate issues will continue to be handled efficiently and effectively for all the citizens of the four-town region. Also, Moira pledges to conduct probate business onsite in the partner communities when circumstances warrant such an accommodation.

I will be voting for Moira Rodgers for judge of probate because I believe she is the best candidate for the position. She has the experience, the skills, the temperament, the work ethic, and the commitment to service which will benefit us and the other residents of our Regional Court district. Please join me in casting your ballot for Moira.

Sincerely,

E. Patricia Llodra
