Maintenance Garage Work Begins
By Kendra Bobowick
âItâs underway! Itâs looking beautiful, I might add!â said Parks and Recreation Director Amy Mangold regarding work at the large brick facility on the corner of Trades Lane and Wasserman Way.
A new roof and windows, cupola restoration, and masonry repairs are among the exterior upgrades taking place at the Parks and Recreation Departmentâs maintenance garage where some staff will relocate from current space at Treadwell Park. Interior repair work will include electrical upgrades and other renovations to bring the building up to code, bathroom renovations, heating, ventilations and air-conditioning improvements, and refinished offices and staff locker room space. Assistant Director of Parks Carl Samuelsonâs office will be located there.
Ms Mangold anticipates the roof and exterior work will be completed by the fall. The project cost is $825,000, paid through Capital Improvements Plan, CP, funds. Interior work is another $700,000.
Already, the interior has been abated, and once the roof is complete the indoor work will begin.
