This weekend marks the opening of fishing season, where are you headed to stalk the ‘big ones’? Asked at Newtown Bait & Tackle.

Fran McGrath: I’ll be surf casting for stripers on the lower Housatonic in Derby and Shelton. But I won’t be heading out until Saturday night.

Rich Newman: I may go out with some of my new dry flies and try and get a few trout at the Fairfield County Fish & Game Club here in Newtown Sunday.

John McGrath: I’ll probably head out to Taunton Pond and do some flat lining or fly casting for trout on Sunday. I’ve been fishing up there since childhood.

Tim Fagan: Since I don’t fish, I’ll probably be out riding my bike, especially if the weather is good!

Denny Dee: I’ll be up at 4 am for breakfast at the Fairfield Fish and Game Club and I’ll have my line in the water at 6 am sharp. I do a lot of fly fishing there.

Scott Oshinski: I let the kids get a few on opening weekend, and I usually wait until the weekend after to go out to the Shepaug or Pomperaug Rivers. I’ll be going for some trout on a fly.
