WATERBURY â The Mattatuck Museumâs art galleries are currently exhibiting 38 works by Connecticut artists who entered its biennial Juried Art Show, âThe Connecticut Vision 2000.â Juror for the show was Douglas Hyland, the director of the New Britain Museum of American Art.
Prizes were awarded to the following Connecticut artists: first prize, Susan Fox, âWith a Faery go hand in hand,â done in egg tempera; second prize, Nina Bentley, âVeiled Threats,â mixed media; third prize, Caroline Bryan, âBlue Jug,â oil on canvas; fourth prize, Sheila Casey Cummings, âIn the Rose Garden,â acrylic and oil on linen; fifth prize, Rainie Crawford, PSA, âStill Life with a Pewter Teapot,â pastel; and sixth prize, Marc Chabot, âA Walk in the Woods,â charcoal.
âConnecticut Vision 2000â will remain on view through November 19. The show, which attracted over 300 entries, features the art of 38 artists.
