Newtowner Helps Chase To Fourth In Tourney

Newtown’s Emmett White, a 171-pound weight division wrestler, helped the Waterbury-based Chase Collegiate School’s wrestling team to a fourth-place finish among 15

teams in the Brunswick Invitational Tournament at Brunswick School in Greenwich on January 22. White finished in fourth in his weight division.

Wrestlers from private schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York competed throughout the day. Chase scored 156 points, beating out, among others, rivals Hotchkiss, Hamden Hall, Hopkins, and Greens Farm Academy. Brunswick won the tourney with 402 points. Minus some teammates because of conflicts with SATs and Model UN, the Chase Highlanders placed in six of the 14 weight classes.
