Robert L.      Buckley

Robert L. Buckley, 60, died March 3, with his best friend, Mike, by his side at Holyoke Hospital after a long battle with brain cancer.

Born February 15, 1945, in Norwalk, he is the son of Florence (Fiaschetti) Buckley of Danbury, and the late Clayton Buckley. Mr Buckley was raised in Norwalk, lived in Newtown for 18 years and has lived in Plymouth, Mass., for the last two years.

He served in Vietnam with the US Marines Third Marine Division. He worked as a warehouse manager for TMC Group in Pembroke, Mass., for two years and previously worked for IPI in Sandy Hook for 18 years as an office manager.

Mr Buckley was an avid golfer and gardener and played softball in a Bethel league. He also appreciated Civil War history and collected memorabilia related to that era.

Besides his mother, he will be missed by his wife of 28 years, Fran (Pupek) Buckley; his daughter, Denise French of West Haven; a brother, Alan Buckley of Edgewater, Fla.; and granddaughter, Devlin Merri French of West Haven. He also leaves his father- and mother-in-law, Chester and Claire Pupek of South Hadley, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Donna Pupek of  South Hadley, Shirley Hensley and her husband, Gary, of Boise, Idaho, and Diane Lynch and her husband, Mike, of South Hadley; along with aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves his beloved German shepherds Rudy and Annie.

A funeral service was held at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home followed by a Mass in St Patrick’s Church.
