Open Sing Of Fauré Requiem For All Saints' Sunday
Open Sing Of Fauré Requiem
For All Saintsâ Sunday
Music @ Trinity is excited to announce a special event on All Saintsâ Sunday: an Open Sing of Requiem by Gabriel Fauré, where the audience is the chorus. All are invited to visit Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street (at the flagpole), on Sunday, November 7, at 5 pm.
Everything will actually begin at 4:30, when Trinityâs Choir of Men & Women and Senior Trinity Choristers will sing Choral Evensong to precede the Open Sing. Attendees will then be gathered into sections at 5 pm according to vocal part (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone), have a brief vocal warm-up together, then at 5:15 sing together the Requiem, the best known of Fauréâs large works.
At 6 pm the event will conclude with Bells of Hope, when Trinityâs bells will ring 19 times â along with schools and churches all across Connecticut to increase awareness for Connecticutâs foster children actively awaiting adoptive homes.
Singers of all ages and abilities are invited to attend. Thanks to Danbury Music Centre, the church will have scores available to lend, or singers can bring their own. The singing will be supported by Trinityâs Choir of Men & Women and nonsingers are also welcome to come and enjoy this beautiful piece.
Gabriel Fauré (1845â1924) began sketches for his Requiem at age 42, at the height of his creative genius. His spirituality pours out of the score, showing his vision of death as a glorious release instead of a torment, providing both the listener and singer with some of the most poignant moments in all choral music.
Admission is free and there is no advance seating required.
