How long have you been in Newtown? I’ve been here for ten years with the company. But I grew up in Sandy Hook. We lived on Pole Bridge Road. I went to Sandy Hook Elementary, Newtown Middle School, and Newtown High School. We just had our 20th class reunion.

What do you like to do in your free time? We have a boat, so we spend a lot of time on the water. We camp on Candlewood Lake, we go tubing. And the salon is my hobby. I’m constantly decorating and moving stuff around. I also love to read.

Do you have a favorite author? I’ve read a lot of the Jodi Picoult books; she wrote My Sister’s Keeper and several others. I like Dan Brown, who wrote The Da Vinci Code. I loved The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and James Frey’s A Million Little Pieces. I like to read motivational books, too. Winn Clairborne is one for my favorite authors.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Mexico is my favorite. I like the island of Isla Muheres. The water is so beautiful and breathtaking. The people are very nice there, and family oriented. It is amazing.

If you could meet someone from history, who would that be? Abraham Lincoln. I think a lot of change happened when he was president. He was a very genuine, noble person who acted with good sense and judgment and followed through.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s a great place to raise kids and I like the people. A lot of people I grew up with have come back here; it’s home. It’s a small town feel, but it’s a big town. And it’s a very giving town. Whenever there’s a fundraiser, it’s unbelievable how people respond.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I truly believe you never dwell on a problem. You find a solution.

What do you most cherish? I most cherish my children.
