American Red Cross & Edible Arrangements

Launch Summer Partnership

The American Red Cross and Edible Arrangements, the pioneer and leader in artistically designed fresh fruit displays and chocolate dipped fruit, are partnering during the month of August to “Make an Arrangement to Help Save Lives.”

During the month of August, all presenting blood donors at American Red Cross blood drives will receive a coupon for a free box of six pieces of chocolate dipped fruit as a thank you for donating blood at a time when blood donations tend to drop due to hot weather, school vacations, and holiday travel.

The American Red Cross asks eligible blood donors to make or keep appointments to give blood this summer to help maintain a stable blood supply for ongoing or emergency needs. The need for blood does not take a vacation and few summer activities feel as good as helping to save lives by donating blood.

Trinity Episcopal Churchy, at 36 Main Street, has a blood drive scheduled for Monday, August 29. The drive will run from 1:45 to 6:45 pm.

Dozens of blood drives are scheduled throughout the month across the state. To find an American Red Cross blood drive, call 800-REDCROSS or visit RedCrossBlood.org to make an appointment to donate blood.

The American Red Cross Blood Services-Northeast Division must distribute approximately 3,000 units of blood each day just to meet the basic needs of area patients. Individuals who are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. Bring your Red Cross blood donor card or another form of positive ID when you donate.

Donors will be given one Edible Arrangements coupon per donation opportunity. Coupons are redeemable at participating retail stores in the United States. Coupons are valid for pickup only and are not valid online or through the call center. The coupons will expire on September 15, 2011’ they are nontransferable, and they are not redeemable for cash.
