*Celebrating the release of her fourth studio album, KELLY CLARKSON will bring her fall tour to Connecticut on Friday, October 2. Tickets for the Mohegan Sun Arena show, which will include opening support from the Australian sister duo The Veronicas, will go on sale August 15.

Tickets are $55 and $75 and will be available on Saturday through TicketMaster; remaining tickets will also be available beginning Sunday through the casino’s box office.

*Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts released its 2009-10 schedule late last week and among the myriad offerings are some concerts that may be of interest to regular readers of this column.

Among those are three-time Grammy winning band LOS LOBOS on Friday, September 18 (tickets are $40-$50); fellow Grammy winner MARC COHN on February 4 ($30-$40); LUCY KAPLANSKY and RICHARD SHINDELL on Friday, February 19 ($30-$40); and LEON REDBONE on Saturday, March 13 (also $30-$40).

*Local band THE SCREW-UPS will open the weekend at The Blue-Z Coffee House here in Newtown. The show is expected to run from 7 until about 9 pm.

THE SCHNEIDER BROTHERS, performing favorites from the 1960s-70s, will be in the house on Saturday from 7:30 until 9:30, and then DENNIS CHASE will have the Sunday afternoon slot, starting around 1 o’clock.

Next weekend’s music will be thanks to the talents of PABLO on August 21, THE FUNDLES on Saturday night, and JEN & BRIANNE on Sunday afternoon.

*Meanwhile across town at Mocha, LAURA SUMNER will continue the celebration of her first solo album, Dreamology, which came out in the spring, with a return to the Sandy Hook coffee shop Friday night. TOWERING DAYS will then bring its indie rock to Glen Road on Saturday.

*Fellow local musicians THE DOUG WAHLBERG BAND will be at Bobby Q’s Main Street, under the sky on their rooftop patio, Saturday night. The venue is at 42 Main Street; call 203-454-7800 for specifics.
