Truck Accident
About 2:52 am on June 18, while driving a 2001 Ford pickup truck northward near 16 South Main Street, driver Edar Pereira, 20, of Danbury drove onto the roadâs southbound lane, struck a tree, hit a stone wall located alongside the Ram Pasture and then rolled over at least twice on the turf, police said. The truck came to rest on its left side.
Pereira complained of an arm injury, but refused transport by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital, police said. Pereira received an infraction ticket for driving to the left and for driving without a license.
Washington Avenue
About 12:40 pm on June 21 on Washington Avenue, police stopped motorist Amanda Ma, 24, of 20 Russett Road to investigate. Police charged Ma with speeding, driving while under suspension, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and driving without automotive insurance.
After arrest processing, police released Ma on $100 bail for a July 6 appearance on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant
After responding to a domestic dispute about 7 pm June 21, police learned that Susan Bivrell, 40, of 37 Riverside Road was wanted on a warrant by Fairfield police on a charge of issuing a bad check. Newtown police said they then turned over Bivrell to Fairfield police for arrest processing on that charge.
Monroe Man
Police said they were called to the area of South Main Street and Cold Spring Road at about 8 pm June 21 on a report of erratic driving.
Police said that after finding the 1990 Toyota Tercel in question on South Main Street, they stopped it to investigate. Police said they charged driver Daniel Beatty, 42, of Monroe with driving a vehicle with a defective windshield and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
After he posted $100 bail, police released Beatty for a July 6 court appearance.
Boggs Hill Road
Sometime between 4 and 5 pm on June 13, an unknown southbound motorist who was apparently driving a Chrysler, struck a utility pole and a residential mailbox located at 158 Boggs Hill Road, police said. Debris from a Chrysler vehicle was found at the scene. Police are investigating. They ask anyone with knowledge of the accident to contact them at 426-5841.
South Main Crash
A two-vehicle accident occurred on South Main Street at its intersection with Button Shop Road about 8:30 am June 17.
Motorist James Smith, 76, of Little Brook Lane, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck southward on South Main Street, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn onto Button Shop Road, police said. At that time, motorist John Carney, 41, of Curry Drive, who was driving a 1992 Oldsmobile sedan northward on South Main Street, applied his brakes for traffic conditions, but went into a skid and entered the opposite travel lane, colliding with the Chevrolet, police said.
There were no injuries. Carney received an infraction ticket for failure to drive to the right and also for failure to wear a seatbelt, police said.
Warrant Arrest
Police arrested a Bridgeport man on a warrant on June 23, which listed charges that stem from a 2001 motor vehicle accident on South Main Street.
Newtown police said that Ansonia police informed them on the night of June 23 that they had in custody a man whom Newtown police wanted to arrest.
Newtown police went to Ansonia and retrieved Jacek Goch, 44, of Bridgeport, charging him with second-degree failure to appear in court, evading responsibility, and failure to grant the right of way.
Newtown police have said that on July 3, 2001, Goch who was driving a van, pulled out from a commercial driveway at 111 South Main Street and collided with a woman motorist, who was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northward on South Main Street.
The van drove then away from the accident, heading southward, police said.
The woman who was driving the Jeep was six months pregnant and was transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital to be checked, police said.
After processing his June 23 warrant arrest, released Goch on $500 bail for a July 7 court appearance.
Acura Vs Honda
Police report a two-car accident near the intersection of Castle Hill Road and Great Hill Road about 8 pm June 16.
Motorist Joselito Estrada, 51, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Acura sedan eastward on Castle Hill Road, stopped at a stop sign, police said. The Acura, which then resumed moving, entered the westbound lane and collided with westbound motorist William Beardsley, 22, of Walnut Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Honda sedan, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Estrada to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Estrada received an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign.
Berkshire Road
Police said they stopped motorist Dana Knapp, 39, of Derby on Berkshire Road to investigate about 1:14 am June 27. Police charged her with failure to illuminate a rear marker plate and with driving while under suspension. After processing the case, police released Knapp on $300 bail for a July 11 court appearance.
School Bus Crash
Police report a collision between a school bus, which was carrying 13 students, and a pickup truck, which was hauling a trailer, on the morning of June 22, near 55 Hundred Acres Road. There were no injuries.
Police said Patricia Gregory, 62, of Aunt Park Lane, who was driving the 1999 Dodge truck that was hauling a trailer, was traveling westward on Hundred Acres Road about 6:42 am.
At that time, Philip Carroll, 51, of Fieldstone Drive was driving a 1995 International school bus eastward there, police said.
As the Dodge rounded a curve in the road, its trailer crossed over the roadâs centerline and collided with the bus, police said. The Dodge truck carried two passengers.
Police said they issued Gregory an infraction ticket on charges of failure to drive to the right on a curve, failure to carry vehicle registration papers, and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.
Marijuana Charge
Police said they responded to an Arlyn Ridge Road home about 7:30 pm June 23, after a resident there told them that a person who was visiting the premises was using drugs.
After investigating the complaint, police charged Michael Nazzaro, 19, of Trumbull with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.
After processing, police released Nazzaro on a written promise to appear in court on July 7.
Castle Hill Crash
Police report a one-car accident on a wet Castle Hill Road, near King Street, about 5:45 pm June 24.
Motorist Alpana Marwah, 36, of 87 Hattertown Road, who was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry eastward on Castle Hill Road, was attempting to make a right curve on the wet road when the auto went out of control, crossed the road, struck the westbound curb, and then crossed the road again, coming to rest atop an embankment along the eastbound road shoulder, according to police.
Marwah was not injured, but was verbally warned for traveling unreasonably fast, police said.
Subaru Key
Police said that a single key for a Subaru motor vehicle was found June 24 at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street. Police are holding the key for safekeeping. The owner may claim it by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station, 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Slick Road
Motorist Annalyn Sanchez, 30, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1995 Mitsubishi sedan westward on Wasserman Way about 6 pm June 25, was negotiating a curve in the road to the left, when the auto encountered an unknown substance on the road that had caused the pavement to become slick, police said.
Sanchez lost control of the Mitsubishi, spun about, went off the eastbound road shoulder and then struck some curbing and a utility pole, police said. Sanchez was not injured. Police took no enforcement. A state road crew was called to the scene to sand the area.
Truck Vs Excavator
Motorist Michael Agius, 50, of Poplar Drive, who was driving a 2004 Dodge truck about 2:30 pm June 24, was pulling out from a driveway at 110 Church Hill Road to turn right onto that street in Sandy Hook Center, when the right rear side of the truck collided with a parked vacant 2005 Kubota excavator, police said. There were no injuries.
Buick Collision
Motorist Dane Carlson, 19, of Hawleyville Road, who was driving a 1995 Buick sedan southward on Hawleyville Road about 10:30 pm June 24, reached for a cellular telephone and then drifted to the right, striking some guardrailing near Covered Bridge Road, police said.
Carlson was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Moving Violations
Police report they stopped motorist Jason Uliano, 31, of 34 Swamp Road about 2:34 pm June 28 on Wasserman Way because Uliano was driving faster than the posted speed limit.
On investigating, police charged Uliano with traveling too fast for conditions and with driving while under suspension. Police released Uliano on a written promise to appear in court on July 12.
Three Vehicles
A three-vehicle accident occurred near 236 Berkshire Road at about 5:15 pm on June 28. Sandy Hook firefighters went to the scene, as did the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Eastbound motorist Christa Clark, 28, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1998 Nissan, slowed to make a right turn into a driveway, police said. Eastbound motorist Robert Deletis, 42, of Bethel, who was driving a 2005 Jeep behind the Nissan, also slowed, police said.
Eastbound motorist Jason Bernardo, 20, of Monroe, who was driving a 1996 Honda, struck the rear end of the Jeep, pushing the Jeep into the westbound travel lane, police said. The Honda then struck the rear end of the Nissan, police said.
Clark was transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked for neck pain. Police issued Bernardo an infraction ticket for following too closely.
