Lions Clean Orchard Hill Park

The Newtown Lions Club gave Orchard Hill Nature Center a good going over on a recent fall Saturday. Trails were remarked, brush was cleared, and dead branches were cut down and removed from the trails area. Lions are seen here gathered around the kiosk, which now boasts beautiful photographs of the park taken by Frank Gardner, standing second from left. Soon the kiosk will also include a history of the Orchard Hill area written by Lion Howard Gorham. Eventually there will be a large map of the 24 acres and its trails. Pinpointed on the map will be the location of the 15 specimen trees that have been located. Nearby will be a description of each tree. From left to right standing are Lions Kent Carpenter, Frank Gardner, Doug Russell, Heather Yllanes from the high school Leo Club, Lions Club President Paul Arneth, Kevin Corey, Oscar Berendsohn, Tony Ratzing, and Albin Mickewich. Kneeling are Jon Christensen and Al Kraweicki.
