Police Dog Finds Man
In Wooded Area
At about 3:44 am on August 30, police responded to a report of a distraught man who had run into a wooded area behind Grace Christian Fellowship, a church located at 174 Mt Pleasant Road.
The man who police were seeking was Robert Johnson, 40, who police listed as a homeless person.
Police called in their dog handler, Officer Andrew Stinson, and the policeâs dog, Baro, to search for the missing man.
After a time, the dog located Johnson sleeping on blanket in a wooded area, police said in a brief statement.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Johnson to Danbury Hospital, police said.
A hospital spokeswoman said Johnson was not a patient there on August 31.
Besides Officer Stinson, officers Domenic Costello, Stephen Santucci, and Michael McGowan participated in the search, police said.
