Police Dog Finds Man

In Wooded Area

At about 3:44 am on August 30, police responded to a report of a distraught man who had run into a wooded area behind Grace Christian Fellowship, a church located at 174 Mt Pleasant Road.

The man who police were seeking was Robert Johnson, 40, who police listed as a homeless person.

Police called in their dog handler, Officer Andrew Stinson, and the police’s dog, Baro, to search for the missing man.

After a time, the dog located Johnson sleeping on blanket in a wooded area, police said in a brief statement.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Johnson to Danbury Hospital, police said.

A hospital spokeswoman said Johnson was not a patient there on August 31.

Besides Officer Stinson, officers Domenic Costello, Stephen Santucci, and Michael McGowan participated in the search, police said.
