Newtown Congregational Church, a member of the United Church of Christ, will sponsor an authentic shrimp boil, in partnership with Back Bay Mission, on Saturday, November 2.

The special event will be at the church, 14 West Street. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and a program will follow at 7:30.

The evening will feature a dinner of shrimp, seasoned with Back Bay’s special spices.

As an alternative for those who do not eat shrimp, chicken with BBQ sauce from The Shed, a popular restaurant in Ocean Springs, Miss. (and a show on Food Network), will also be served. Garlic bread, salad and a dessert of Mardi Gras King Cake will round out the meal.

Guests will feel as if they are down on the Gulf as piles of shrimp shells grow on newspaper-covered tables and conversation fills the room.

After dinner a special program will be presented by representatives from Back Bay Mission, a UCC-mission in Biloxi, Miss., that has been directly supported by Newtown Congregational Church since 2005.

All proceeds from the shrimp boil will benefit Back Bay Mission and its continuing work along the Gulf Coast.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 ages 12 and under, or $40 for a family, and early purchase is strongly encouraged due to limited space. Tickets may be purchased at the church office or reserved by phone at 203-426-9024 (payment must be made in advance).

Back Bay Mission has been a source of hope and help for thousands of children, adults and families along the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1922. A special event at Newtown Congregational Church will raise funds for the mission in Biloxi, Miss.
