An Afternoon Of Indie Films At The Palace

DANBURY — Announced just this week, a new indie film series will debut at The Palace Danbury on Sunday, January 30.

FilmSnobbery Live! will debut “A Day At The Palace,” showcasing the best of independent film and filmmakers. More than people just sitting in a dark theatre, the program is billed as an interactive event, where the audience is a part of the action. FilmSnobbery Live! A Day at The Palace will take place on the last Sunday of each month at The Palace Danbury.

This month’s lineup will include short and full length films including Misdirection, directed by Doron Kipper, at 1:30; What’s Up Lovely, directed by Gary King, at 2:15; Three-Fifty, directed by Maurice Chauvet, at 3:30; and Ink, directed by Jamin Winans, at 3:45.

Intermissions will follow each screening, with trailers to be screened between films. An interview/Q&A session will follow the final screening at 5 pm, with the events scheduled to wrap at 6 pm. Directors Doron Kipper and Gary King are both scheduled to participate in the Q&A.

“The Palace Theatre in Danbury is the perfect home for the event,” said host and film critic Nic Baisley. “They understand how difficult it is for filmmakers to get their work in front of an audience and work hard to make sure that directors get what they deserve: a lively audience, pristine projection, and kickin’ sound.”

Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 when purchased online (ThePalaceDanbury.com) with the coupon code FILMSNOB130. Doors open at 1 pm, and the event will begin with 30 minutes of socializing and a magic show by director Doron Kipper.

The Palace Danbury is at 165 Main Street. For additional information call 203-794-9944 or visit ThePalaceDanbury.com.
