Time To End

Aid To Israel

To the Editor:

This past week, our President outlined the proposed federal budget for the fiscal year starting next October. It is a critical time for the US government and the US people to be clear on our priorities; in this respect, I suggest that our federal government eliminates completely the $3 billion of foreign aid budgeted to support the Israeli military continuous build-up.

Why should we pour more fuel over the Middle-East fire and promote the arms race in that region? That simply does not make any sense to me.

The money budgeted as aid to Israel could be either totally eliminated from the budget or put to better use and benefit directly the American people.

Does it make sense that the USA with such a huge federal deficit should borrow money from the Chinese and then hand that money to the Israeli government? Israel is a developed country with a nuclear arsenal; let them borrow directly from the Chinese if they wish, but let us not burden our children and future generations with more red ink.

Is it not time that our elected officials put America first and stop catering to special interests?
