After a slow start in a loss to the Newtown Torpedoes (in a friendly meet), the Rock Ridge Age Group swim team â the Racing Rascals â defeated Putnam Lake and Mimosa for their first two wins of the summer season.
A recent loss to New Milford, however, dropped the Rascals to 2-1.
Out of the 65 swimmers on the Rascalsâ roster, 30 have already qualified for the State Line Swim League (SLSL) 2000 championships, which will be held Friday at Southbury. Lots of Rascals earned medals at the competition a year ago.
âWe hope that, this year, we can continue our strong standing in the State Line Swim League,â said head coach Lindsey Malloy, âand obtain as many medals as last year.â
Those swimmers who qualified for the championships include Kevin OâConnell, Liz OâConnell, Jen OâConnell, James Truckle, Sarah Truckle, Kyle Paynter, Mason West, Brodics Frey, Jordan Frey, Katherine Donahue, Andrea Nazer, Nicolas Nazer, Patrick Braden, Jackie Buda, Emily Brestovansky, Meghann Brestovansky, Caitlin OâMahoney, Elizabeth LaPerch, Jack Driessen, Molly Murtha, Anne Barbour, Briana Berg, Monica Arienzo, Jenny Perran, Lynn Perran, Alex Roy, Sam Boyle, Liz Portnoy, Jen Dubraski and Rachel Dubraski.
