Hospital, Patients Benefit From Familyâs Philanthropy
DANBURY â As a boy, Noel Roy, Sr, always understood the positive impact that Danbury Hospital had on the community. As he grew into adulthood and founded his family business, Credit Center Inc (CCI), a medical billing and collection company, he understood the business side of the health care industry and more importantly, the continual need for fundraising at a nonprofit medical facility.
Recently, Noel Roy, Sr, and his son became members of Danbury Hospitalâs 1885 Society; a recognition program for donors that include Danbury Hospital as part of their estate plans.
âAs a Danbury native, Iâve witnessed firsthand how Danbury Hospital has become a medical leader not only in the local community but the entire state and Northeast region,â said Mr Roy. âMy family is dedicated to doing its part to ensure that this growth continues to not only benefit the greater Danbury area but as a regional health care provider and teaching hospital.â
Mr Royâs first experience with Danbury Hospital fundraising was for its new Emergency Room 15 years ago. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Development Fund, where he has been a pacesetter for the past decade. He has served on the Cancer Golf Tournament committee as well as several other committees.
Mr Royâs passion has also inspired his wife Jennifer and son Noel Roy, Jr, to donate their time, talent and money to other Danbury Hospital programs. Noel Roy, Jr, is an active contributor to Danbury Hospital programs and currently serves as chief executive officer of CCI.
To ensure that the legacy of giving continues, he and his father have prominently included Danbury Hospital in their wills.
âAlthough Iâm only 38, itâs never too early to plan and provide for the future,â said Mr Roy Jr. âBy making this gift, I can ensure that the community I grew up in will continue to flourish in decades to come.â
Ms Royâs primary focus has been âDay to Make a Difference,â an event to benefit Danbury Hospitalâs pediatric department. As chair in 1996 and 1997, her committee raised the funding for Danbury Hospitalâs popular Wellness on Wheels Van, a mobile health initiative that provides physicals, immunizations, and testing to uninsured patients and which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
In addition, she has served on several other committees, including the Danbury Hospital Ball. Ms Roy also co-chairs The Festival of Trees and Traditions, a holiday fundraiser to benefit Annâs Place, the Home of I Can, and a major health partner of Danbury Hospitalâs Praxair Cancer Center.
