Laura Evans, 92, of Estes Park, Colo., and formerly of Kissimmee, Fla., died on Friday, September 2, from complications of congestive heart failure.
She was born Laura Lena Louise Lange, January 17, 1913, in Milwaukee, Wis., the youngest child and only daughter of Hugo and Louise (Frick) Lange. She was a language teacher before she married and a lifelong volunteer after, serving her churches as she moved and organizations ranging from Cub Scouts to neighborhood watches.
Mrs Evans is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Betsy (Newcomb) Evans of Estes Park, formerly of Newtown; grandchildren Judith and Adam Bennett of Fort Collins, Colo., Christopher and Leigh Ann Evans of Amherst, N.H., William and Molly Evans of Fallon, Nev.; and four great-grandchildren, Aislinn and Lindsay Evans, Sidley and Vivian Bennett. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Oscar and Hugo Lange, and her husband of 64 years, Sidley O. Evans.
A memorial service was planned for September 9, at Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies in Estes Park, where she was a member. Interment will be in the churchâs columbarium will take place that afternoon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the EPMC Hospice of the Estes Valley or to the American Heart Association.
