Sweet Victory For Hershey Kisses

The Hershey Kisses defeated the Addessi Golden Ringers 35-27 to win the Newtown Youth Basketball Association sixth-grade boys’ championship on March 19.

Steven Moccio capped a tremendous season with 20 points, 10 rebound, and 2 assists, while taking the game over in the closing minutes to seal the victory. Will Huegi also provided an offensive spark with 6 points and 3 steals.

The Hershey Kisses’ big men controlled the paint and were led by Elliott Bennett with 3 points, 2 boards, and 2 steals; Peter DeBona who had 2 points, 2 boards, and 4 steals; Aaron Gershon who added 2 points, 3 boards, a steal and a block, and Greg Trimachi, who had 2 points, a rebound, 3 steals, and some outstanding picks. Robert Lombardo (3 boards and 2 steals) Phillip Coffey (2 steals and a board), Tiernan Keane (2 steals and 2 boards), and Nick Lombardo (2 steals and a board) all played key roles on the defensive end to help clinch the title.

The Golden Ringers were led on offense by Henry Primavera with 8 points, and Parker Johnson, Matt Kugler, Thomas Addessi, and Austin DeSousa all with four points, along with Will Whitlock with 2 points. The defense was led by William Corbett, Daniel Korhaas, and Jeroen Schickenantz.
