Honoring Newtown Authors
Honoring Newtown Authors
To the Editor:
What a thrill to have nearly 60 Newtown authors and book illustrators present to receive a toast of thanks at a public reception in their honor at the C.H. Booth Library last Saturday. The Local Authors Collection on the third floor of the library grew exponentially through the generous donations of books written and illustrated by these talented people. We thank them for their contributions.
Many people contributed to the success of the event and we thank you so very much: The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library for sponsoring this wonderful event; Jarl Orell of Events Party and Tent Rentals in Georgetown for providing the champagne glasses, trays, and tablecloths for the event; Lori Hoagland and Steve Small for each contributing their expertise to make the event special; Paula Stephan for arranging for the flowers; Lexington Gardens for creating an exquisite centerpiece; the staff of the C.H. Booth Library for baking all the delicious savories and sweets for the event and for quietly working to make the event run smoothly; to the Book Menders for covering much of the collection; Nancy Crevier and Laurie Borst for the fine coverage in The Bee.
We thank First Selectman Herb Rosenthal for proclaiming June 9 Newtown Authors and Book Illustrators Day to recognize the artistic, cultural, and literary contributions made by these members of our community.
Sincerely,
Andrea Zimmermann
