Truck Hits Truck

State police said that a state Department of Transportation (DOT) truck driver parked a 2008 International Maxforce truck owned by DOT on eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 10 as part of a protective pattern that was formed to shield from moving traffic the DOT workers who were making some lightpost repairs in that area about 7:20 am on March 8.

The unknown driver of a red pickup truck, which was hauling an aluminum box trailer, then smashed into the International truck and kept driving, state police said.

The DOT driver was not injured. State police ask anyone with knowledge of the offending driver’s identity to contact investigating Trooper First Class Jason Lewis at 860-626-7904.

Highway Crash

At about 1:34 am on March 1, motorist Kyle Lundquist, 29, of Brookfield was driving a 2007 Hyundai Tucson SUV westward on Interstate 84 and was approaching the Exit 10 off-ramp when he drifted onto that ramp and then collided with the “Exit 10” road sign, state police said.

Lundquist was not injured. State police said they issued him an infraction for failure to maintain the established lane.

Fairfield Hills Trespassers

Police said they received a report about 1:40 pm on March 1 stating that two youths were trespassing at the town-owned Fairfield Hills core campus, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said the two boys, ages 14 and 15, had illegally entered Shelton House, a now-vacant building which had been used as patient housing at the former psychiatric institution.

Shelton House is adjacent to Newtown Municipal Center, the town government office building which formerly was known as Bridgeport Hall.

Each boy was charged with simple trespassing and both were then released on written promises to appear in court. Because the youths are under age 18, police did not disclose their identities.

Surrender On Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Sandra Ballard, 47, of Danbury went to Newtown police station on March 5 and was charged with violation of a protective order, police said.

The past issuance of that protective order by the court stems from a harassment complaint that was made against Ballard last July 9, police said.

Following arrest processing, police released Ballard on $1,000 bail for a March 19 court appearance.

Warrant Arrest

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Dimitriy Frolov, 28, of Danbury went to Newtown police station on the afternoon of March 5 and was charged with theft of a credit card and with five counts of sixth-degree larceny.

Police said the arrest stems from an incident that occurred last November 6. Police released Frolov on a written promise to appear in court on March 25.

Three Vehicle Collision

Motorist Donna Levesque, 56, of Swansea, Mass., who was driving a 2014 Buick southward on South Main Street near its intersection with Peck’s Lane about 3:16 pm on March 5, stopped for traffic conditions, police report.

Southbound motorist Thomas Delutri, 40, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1997 Volvo 960 sedan, then stopped behind the Buick, police said.

Southbound motorist Diane Lavin, 49, of 7 Buck Trail, who was driving a 2013 Toyota Sienna minivan, then struck the rear end of the Volvo, pushing the Volvo into the rear end of the Buick, police said.

Levesque reported a minor injury, but refused medical attention, according to police. Police said they verbally warned Lavin for following too closely.

Traffic Stop

While using their computerized marker-plate analysis device at about 1:17 pm on March 6, police stopped motorist Chad Bennett, 37, of 14 Johnny Appleseed Drive near the intersection of South Main Street and Ethan Allen Road to investigate.

Police said they charged Bennett with misuse of marker plates and with failure to have automotive insurance. He was released on a written promise to appear in court on March 20.

Extradition

Police report that they went to 40 Little Brook Lane on the morning of March 6 and served extradition documents against Michael S. Dembek, 33, of that address, charging him with being a fugitive from justice from Orange County, Fla.

Police said the extradition documents were issued by Florida authorities in connection with pending charges against Dembek concerning alleged child abuse and alleged lewd/lascivious conduct.

Dembek was initially held on $250,000 bail for arraignment on March 6 in Danbury Superior Court.

At his arraignment, bail was lowered to $150,000 and he was later being held at Bridgeport Correctional Center for an April 3 court appearance.

Warrant Served

State police report that at about 5:10 pm on March 6, they went to 4 Shamrock Lane and served a warrant against Katherine Boisvert, 35, of that address, charging her with second-degree failure to appear in court.

The warrant stems from several motor vehicle charges pending against Boisvert to which she has pleaded not guilty.

State police said they released Boisvert on $3,500 bail for a March 31 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant Executed

State police report that they went to 2 Jet Brook Road on the night of March 6 and served a warrant against Robert Cain, 52, of that address, charging him with second-degree failure to appear in court in connection with pending charges.

State police said they held Cain on $2,500 bail for a March 7 court appearance.

Evading Responsibility

On Friday, March 7, sometime between 6 am and 3 pm, while an unoccupied 2002 Subaru Outback station wagon was parked in the southern parking lot at the Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street, the vehicle was struck and damaged by an unknown vehicle, police report.

The Subaru received damage to its left-front corner. After the collision, the offending motorist drove away without reporting the incident.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841 in regard to police Case #2014-4437.

Jordan Hill Road Deer Collision

Police report that motorist Gary Feigenblat, 50, of Shelton was driving a 2014 Dodge Durango SUV northward on Jordan Hill Road near the Monroe town line about 7 am on March 10 when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the vehicle.

Feigenblat was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Delayed Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant against him, an unidentified male surrendered to them at the police station on the evening of March 10 and was charged with six motor vehicle offenses in connection with a May 20, 2013, two-vehicle accident on Cedar Hill Road in which there were no injuries.

The person who was charged was under age 18 when the accident occurred, so police did not disclose his identity.

Police said they charged the male with evading responsibility, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license, misuse of marker plates, theft of marker plates, and failure to have automotive insurance.

Police have reported that before they arrived at the accident scene last May, one of the two motorists involved in the crash had driven away. Police then located the motorist who had fled and transported him to the police station where they arrested him on the six motor vehicle charges.

However, police said this week that the six charges against the youth were not processed by the court system last year, so they served the arrest warrant against him on March 10 so that those six charges will be handled by the court.

Police said the youth was released on $100 bail on March 10 for an April 8 arraignment in court.

MV Charges

Police report that at about 8:15 am on March 12, they were using radar-based speed-sensing equipment on Poverty Hollow Road and spotted an Audi A-4 that was traveling 50 miles per hour in a posted 25-mph zone, so they stopped the driver to investigate.

Police said they charged motorist Wellington Mzulwini, 38, of Waterbury with traveling unreasonably fast, misuse of marker plates, and failure to have automotive insurance.

After processing the charges, police released Mzulwini on $500 bail for a March 26 court appearance.
