Junior Gold Girls Win Simsbury Stickfest Championship

The Junior Gold girls’ lacrosse team won the Simsbury Stickfest Championship this past week. The girls topped River Ticks of Orange 8-3, New Canaan 7-4, Darien 7-2, Wilton 7-5, and Greenwich 6-4 in the tourney.

Bridget Walsh and Olivia Holman were fierce in goal, stopping a combined 19 shots over the five games.  The opposing offenses of the top youth lacrosse programs in Connecticut were closed down, with an impenetrable defense led by Meghan Doyle, Nevan Gattey, Tessa Leon-Gambetta, Emily Dirga, Samantha Arnold, Jessica Maturo, and Peyton Cutolo.

Caroline Keane, Kate Moyle, Grace Herrick, Lexi Barra, and Leah Hushion all played well on offense. The scoring was led by Nikki Zaccaro, with Julia Sughrue, Gattey, Doyle, Caroline Caporale, and Lauren Zimmerman finding the net multiple times throughout the day.
