To the Editor:

Thank you, again, to the over 250 people that attended the screening of Race to Nowhere at Newtown High School. Many people came away searching for solutions to the problems that our youth face in today’s society.

It is my hope that the movie inspired some good conversations. There are many things that we as parents and educators can do to relieve some of the pressures that our children are dealing with, yet there are always going to be times when they feel stress. Teaching our children how to deal with those stresses is a proactive way to help them to grow into healthy, happy adults.

Join us in the Lecture Hall of Newtown High School for a presentation by LeAnn Nickelsen on “Raising Resilient Children.” Ms Nickelsen is a dynamic speaker who has experience presenting to parents as well as educators internationally. This presentation will be on Thursday, May 12, from 7 to 9 pm and is free to the public. Free babysitting will also be available. Please e-mail Suzanne at newtownpac1@aol.com and indicate how many children you would like to have child care for.
