Marcus Schulz, a student at Newtown High School, has been selected to attend the 2003 Congressional Student Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. The CSLC is an invitational leadership program for academically talented and promising young leaders.
Lauren McCusker, daughter of Mark and Patti McCusker of Sandy Hook, and Rebecca Stephens, daughter of Kathleen and Ronald Stephens of Newtown, were awarded honors on the Marist College deanâs list.
Ryan Michael Holmes, son of Michael and Lisa Holmes of Newtown, was named to the deanâs list at Saint Michaelâs University. He was recently inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta, an international honor society committed to the advancement of language and literature. He is a senior majoring in English.

Sabina Webb of Sandy Hook has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation and has received her PhD in industrial organizational psychology from the University of Connecticut. She will graduate this spring. She is the mother of Veronica and Marc Webb.
Matthew J. Klaus, son of Ellen Klaus of Newtown and the late Bernhard F. Klaus, has been named to the fall deanâs list at American University. He was recently inducted into the Alpha Lamba Delta Honor Society. He has also been nominated for membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Aimee Clavette, daughter of Alan and Mary Clavette of Newtown, recently attended the Hugh OâBrien Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar held March 21â23 in Hartford. Aimee joined about 150 other young leaders representing as many high schools from throughout Connecticut. Aimee represented Newtown High School. The Rotary Club of Newtown sponsored Aimee.

Bernhard T. Klaus, son of Ellen Klaus of Newtown and the late Bernhard F. Klaus, graduated summa cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelorâs degree in mechanical engineering. He is a member of the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi and the mechanical engineering honor society Pi Tau Sigma. He also belongs to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers, and the Society of American Military Engineers.
At RPI, he was part of the Formula SAE racecar team and was enrolled in Army ROTC. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps of the United States Army. He is attending Ordnance Officer Basic Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland and will be stationed in Fort Drum, N.Y.
