Cynthia Marie Thompson

Cynthia Marie Thompson, 73, of Ridgefield, wife of Robert F. Thompson, died September 22 at her home.

Mrs Thompson was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on September 11, 1930, a daughter of the late Alexander and Cynthia (Allen) Du Flon.

In additional to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by two sons, David Robert Thompson of Newtown, and Stephen Joseph Thompson and his wife, Marie, of Hampton Bays, N.Y.; a sister, Jane Thompson of Brookfield; five beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher, Brian, Sarah, and Kelly, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Eileen, predeceased Mrs Thompson.

Mrs Thompson graduated from St Agnes High School, College Point, N.Y., and from Katherine Gibbs of New York City. She was employed by the Soap Association, Inc, for several years and then for a law firm in Pensacola, Fla., where her husband was stationed at the Naval Air Station during the Korean War.

After returning from service, they moved to Ridgefield where they raised their family and have been residents for the past 40 years. Active in her church, The First Congregational Church of Ridgefield, she served the church in many capacities including for many years, a Deacon, a member of the Search Committee for Senior Minister, and a member of the New Church Organ Committee.

She was also active as a member of the PEO Sisterhood, where she served in many capacities, including president.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 26, at 11 am, in The First Congregational Church, 103 Main Street, Ridgefield. Burial will take place in St John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y.

Visiting hours were scheduled in the Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, on Thursday, September 25, from 4 to 8 pm.
