Owner-Operators Make Newtown

A Better Place

To the Editor:

Even though I have said this a hundred times before, it’s worth saying again. Newtown is a better place to live because of the owner-operator bus system and many of my friends who live in Trumbull, Oxford, and Bethel are definitely envious of our system. They have horror stories of strangers driving their school buses. Even when there are bus driver substitutes the quality of the transportation is diminished.

Except for a few exceptions, an owner-operator bus system really is ideal for the school kids, their parents, and the town. This issue sounds like a no-brainer to so many people. This has the potential to become a sad, sad mistake. Don’t do it!
