Fourth grade students at Head O' Meadow held a Science/Health Expo on Thursday, June 9, displaying projects they had been working on in groups in the school's cafeterium.

The school's fourth grade teachers and math/science specialist Chrissie Pierce oversaw the projects. According to Ms Pierce, the students were self-directed and chose to learn more about a topic they had studied during the school year.

In one corner of the room, Molly Zatlukal and Kaitlyn Ivey shared a video demonstration they created while studying static and lightning.

In another corner, Ross Salvo, Adam Mauriello, Ashley Shaw and Macey Cuomo shared their project, "Honey Bees: Why Do Bees Dance?"

"We wanted to learn about bees," Ross said, when asked why the group chose its topic to study.

"We're Bill Nye the Magnet Guys," student Aiden Kortze said, standing with his group members Brady Macey, Jack Chappa, Kyle Ruddy and Andrew Arena. The boys studied and made self-moving car prototypes using magnets, they said.

"We wanted to make an eco-friendly car," said Jack.

The boys said they learned about magnets this year in school and were further inspired when watching videos of Bill Nye the Science Guy.
