The Most Beautiful Baby

To the Editor:

As I looked at this year’s contestants on the voting booth, I could see why every parent or grandparent who entered their baby thought their baby was the most Beautiful Baby. I “oohed” and “ahhed” over each and every one of them. Thank you all for entering. I wish I could give all the contestants a ride down Main Street in a Mercedes limo in Newtown’s Labor Day Parade, but unfortunately, there can only be one winner. I’d like to congratulate Lia Spremullo, age 1, for being voted the Most Beautiful Baby. Lia’s photograph raised the most amount of money for Homes For Our Troops — a nonprofit that builds free custom handicap houses for returning military personnel with life-altering wounds.

I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who contributed to this year’s prize baskets: Adam Broderick Salon and Spa, Beardsley Zoo, Caraluzzi’s Market, Chase Bank of South Main Street, Ferris Acre Creamery, The Newtown Bee, Good Ideas, Happy Baby Baby Food, Homes For Our Troops, Kohl’s Cares, Mercedes of Danbury, Quassy Amusement Park, Ricci’s Salon, Spa, and Academy, Salon Michele, Simply Baby, Staples (Newtown Road, Danbury), Stop & Shop, Things Remembered, and a tip of the hat to The Wishing Well in Sandy Hook for gift wrapping the prize baskets so beautifully.

A very special thank you once again goes out to Rich Marcucio of Stop & Shop, Sand Hill Plaza, for hosting the voting booth in his store.

Lia, I look forward to seeing you in this year’s Labor Day Parade!
